Reckless Driving

Reckless driving is the bane of our society in todays world. Thousands of innocent people die every year because some moron wants to drive as fast as he or she can to impress their mates, among other reasons of course, a few of which well delve into in this article.

Reckless driving is defined as a serious moving traffic violation and is the next step up from careless driving. It carries far more penalties and convictions and the more serious reckless driving offences carry several penalties with them. Thousands have people have lost their licence because some small burst of insanity when they were young and can now never drive a motor vehicle.

Different states have different kinds of punishments for the offenders, and they are all quite serious!

Some of the more common reasons for reckless driving are as follows:

Alcohol ” As anyone could have guessed, the top reason for reckless driving is people being under the influence of alcohol while driving. The penalties for this offence is far severe than most of the other reasons because there are two laws being broken, one is of course, the reckless driving and the other is driving under the influence of alcohol.

Peer Pressure ” When driving with a group of friends it is very common for people to be encouraged to over take a particular vehicle or to just generally driver faster and the result is reckless driving. In order to be charged with reckless driving you dont actually need to crash, just to be seen (or recorded) driving recklessly is enough.

Drugs..enough said I think!

Road Rage ” This is a relatively new cause for reckless driving, the most common causes are people getting angry because of continuous congestion and people seeming to drive badly, or it could just be bad manners!

It is not an extensive list of reasons but you get the general gist. Whatever reasoning behind it reckless driving is simply not acceptable and it is up to us as a community to put a stop to it.
